4 new skill-based health courses in Punjab

Chandigarh, Aug 6 (PTI) In a bid to provide effective and quality skill development training in health sector to unemployed youth of the state, the Punjab Government will start four new short-term courses. This was decided by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a high level meeting with experts in the field of Medical Education and Health System, an official spokesman said today. Badal had last month constituted a panel of experts from medical education and health services to work out various reforms for initiating effective skill development training in the health sector, thereby generating avenues of employment for the unemployed educated youth of the state.

The four new skill development healthcare certified courses would be started by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The courses are Hospital Care Attendant (1-yr course), House–Based Health Care Attendant (6-month course), Emergency -cum-Ambulance Attendant (9-month course) and Operation Theatre Attendant (1-yr course) for which 10th and 12th pass individuals would be eligible. While Home Based Health Care Attendant course would be started from January 2013, other courses would be started from May–June 2013 at all medical colleges and some institutions of the Department of Health and Family Welfare in the state.
